At M. Joseph Creations, sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's something I consider in the ingredients, materials and packaging I choose. From plant-based soy wax and carefully selected fragrance oils to responsibly sourced wood wicks and reusable vessels, I'm committed to creating products thoughtfully and transparently.

🌱 Thoughtfully Selected Ingredients

EcoSoya CB-Advanced Soy Wax
My candles and wax melts are made with EcoSoya CB-Advanced, a vegetable-based soy wax. According to the manufacturer's technical and safety documentation, the wax is expected to be fully biodegradable and contains no components classified as hazardous under the referenced CLP regulations.

Because genetically modified soybeans are prevalent in the global supply chain, the manufacturer cannot guarantee that its soy is entirely non-GMO, although it aims to source non-GMO materials wherever possible. The wax is also not certified organic, so I don't make either of those claims.

Carefully Selected, Phthalate-Free Fragrance Oils
I source fragrance oils from established candle and fragrance suppliers and select oils identified by their suppliers as phthalate-free. Supplier documentation, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and IFRA information, is reviewed where applicable.

Fragrance is complex, and I believe in being transparent rather than using broad terms such as “chemical-free.” Each fragrance is carefully selected and tested in my products for its intended use.

Responsibly Sourced Wood Wicks
One of the signatures of M. Joseph Creations candles is the gentle crackle of a real wood wick. My wood wicks are sourced from Makesy, whose wood is ethically sourced from U.S.-based Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified mills. makesy®

Biodegradable Glitter
When glitter is used in select creations, I choose biodegradable glitter rather than conventional plastic glitter.

Reusable & Recyclable Packaging
I intentionally choose vessels and packaging with reuse and recycling in mind. Candle tins and glass vessels can often be given a second life around your home, and many packaging components may be recyclable depending on your local recycling program.

Every M. Joseph Creations candle and wax melt is hand-poured by me in small batches in Middle Island, New York. Small-batch production allows me to closely monitor each batch, maintain consistency and avoid the scale and excess associated with mass production.

🔄 Give Your Candle a Second Life

A finished candle doesn't necessarily mean the end of the container.

• Glass Vessels & Tins: Once properly cleaned, consider reusing them for small-item storage, desk organization or other decorative purposes.
• Crystals: When included in a creation, crystals can be kept as decorative keepsakes or passed along as a gift.
• Recycling: Glass, metal and other components may be accepted by your local recycling program. Recycling requirements vary by municipality, so please check your local guidelines.

Tip: To help remove remaining wax, placing the container in the freezer can cause the wax to contract, making it easier to remove. Never use a sharp object in a glass vessel, and allow the container to return to room temperature before cleaning.
