From the Hebrew name מִיכָאֵל (Mikha'el) meaning "who is like God?". Derived from מי (mi), "who?", כ (ke), "like" and the word אֵל ('el), God.
The Archangel Michael candle reminds us that Michael was a powerful archangel and the leader of the heavenly host; however, even he needed the power of God when he faced the devil... so do we. The Hebrew translation of his name is a question; to which the answer is simply - no one is like God. Jesus is the name above all names and the the Archangel Michael reminds us of that.
